The Education Committee is a team of highly motivated members of MSA
voluntarily contributing their time and effort. The Committe Members are dedicated to
the development and successful implementation of educational and
instructional programs for the benefit of the members of the society as
well as others seeking to gain knowledge of microscopy and its associated
techniques.
To accomplish this we are committed to:
- Provide educational programs and services in the most cost-effective manner.
- To identify educational needs within the society and pursue the implication
of these programs that satisfy the needs.
- Encourage MSA member awareness, participation and involvement in all of our
educational programs.
- Continue to broaden the reach of our programs to include as large of a
segment of the technical community as possible while placing emphasis on
young scientists starting out on their technical careers.
- The Education Committee is responsible for the short course program which
provides practical guidance on technologies already in use or practical
introduction to technologies not yet established in the laboratory. In
addition the committee is part of the program at all of the national
meetings providing biological and physical science tutorials. These are
recorded on video and made available to our membership for a fee. We strive to
provide superb quality and to address the interests of our society.
- The Education Committee exhibition booth provides information to the
membership regarding written materials available for teaching. The booth
serves as a contact point for the membership during the meeting. The travel
exhibit which is displayed every year at the booth is the society's way of
keeping in touch with the local affiliate societies throughout the year.
- In the Education Committe exhibition booth we also maintain the
Society Book Library, whose books are available for browsing at the MSA Megabooth during the Annual meeting.
